Meet Tyson - ANML-RESQ would like to introduce our newest rescue, Tyson.

Tyson is a 10 month old American Bulldog who has personality plus! He is a real talker and is keeping foster mom very amused. Tyson arrived to foster care on Friday and he has already met a friend, Roxy and they both had a wonderful playdate on Friday night...just what Tyson needed to destress after being at the shelter. Tyson also met the resident cats who were not as enthusiastic meeting him LOL

Here is an update from foster mom Jen.

Hello everyone... I wanted to give everyone an update on this big boy .. hes a talker, a humper and fascinated with golf balls.. Lol..

On his ride home last night he sprawled out and enjoyed the ride.. He would lift his head occasionally and start talking.. Was super cute!!

When we got home, the intro to Roxy went very well.. He came out and sniffed the yard.. Then we brought Roxy out and the two checked each other out..

Almost instant  at first sight!!! ( more so for Tyson im thinkin) As we brought them into the house, Tyson the sneaky bugger must have stolen a licorice from my car lol.. So they had a toy (so to speak) They played for quite some time and then i decided it was bedtime.

So, the intro to the cats was ok.. He didnt chase after them, yet decided he should talk to them.. THAT was funny!!! My cats smacked his face and hissed so he talked LOUDER!! Such a cute little bugger. ~:D

Welcome to the ANML-RESQ family Tyson!

Mousseline Update - Here is an update on the beautiful Mousseline.

Hi All, I just wanted to update you on Mousseline and her successful integration into my family. She is doing well, and has been a wonderful companion to me. She socializes with family and their dogs often: a husky, a lab and several shepherds. She also loves to spend time on my parents' farm with the horses, goat, etc. She loves to go for hikes in the forest, swims in the river, and pool etc. But her favorite past time is squirrel tracking/chasing:)

She is still standoffish with dogs she doesn't know, needing to assert herself as the dominant alpha. She has been trained not to bark, pull or growl at dogs we meet on our walks, however.

Her health has improved, due to a consistent exercise regime of three walks a day and some water therapy (suggested by my vet) and altered diet. she has gained some muscle and lost a few pounds of fat.

...family hike along the Ottawa river this past summer. Please feel free to post them on your happy tails page if you so desire. Let me know if there are any events that Mousse and I can be a part of in conjunction with ANML RESQ because we would love to participate. ~...Heidi K.

I know Mousseline is enjoying herself and the pictures speak volumes.

Timber Anniversary - Anniversary of my best failure. I can't believe it's been 5 years since Timber has been in my life. I love this dog so much, he's such an amazing companion. I couldn't ask for a better dog than my boy Timber.

The funny thing with Timber is that I knew I was going to keep him even before I met him or even saw a picture of him for that matter. I will never forget the day when I was sitting in a Costco parking lot speaking on the phone with Renee about how some a$$ threw him out of a moving car and tossed him onto the street. Renee and Bill (who I like to dub as Timber's Guardian Angels) noticed him pacing back and forth on her street and was pissed how people let their dogs roam. They live rural and cars speed like crazy and there is a lot of wildlife (bears, wolves, etc) that gorge themselves this time of the year before the winter. They were concerned he'd get killed by a car or eaten by wildlife so they coaxed Timber to them and to their surprise, he was only a puppy (guessed approx. 4 months old). They went to the neighbours asking of he was their dog when they said they saw someone throw him out of the car earlier that day. As she was describing his story and how he was, I knew instantly he was going to be mine.

Timber has gotten his GCN certification, is in the process of becoming a registered therapy dog for St. John Ambulance, in the process of becoming a therapy dog for persons with brain injuries, is a blood donor, and has welcomed so many foster dogs into his home. How could someone have thrown such a great dog with such great potential away? One person's garbage is another person's treasure is what Renee has told me many times and I couldn't agree with her more.

Happy 5th Gotcha Anniversary Timber!! You are truly an amazing dog.

Bullet and Chase Update - It's time for a Bullet & Chase update. These 2 beautiful boys were freed from a life on a chain. Watching them for the 1st time running free in the yard was a heartwarming sight. No more chains for you two boyz!

Unfortunately Bullet & Chase are heartworm positive, yet knowing how they lived their whole lives so far, it's not really that big a surprise. I thank the rescue everyday for helping these sweet deserving boys, and helping them on their journey to a new healthy and happy life.

Today was the beginning of the hard part of the heartworm treatment. Bullet & Chase had to get multiple deep muscle injections along their back to kill off the heartworm for good. They still need to get 2 more rounds of injections in a months time. When I picked them up earlier today from the vet, they are quite groggy from the treatment. It's pretty hard on their bodies, but well worth the try to get them healthy again as they deserve. This was the first time I got to see how they treat heartworm, and I was quite daunted with how big the needles are, but both took them like champs.

I had to help the vet today to hold Bullet still, as he has already bonded with me and is comfortable having me hold him close. Since he doesn't know the vet and staff all that well yet, he was becoming a bit nervous with the notion of being held too close by a stranger. The vet and staff commented how well behaved and wonderful Bullet & Chase are. They were as good as gold while in their company today. As you can see, by the end of the day, both have become more comfortable with the clinic and staff.

I would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful vet, Dr. Ivan Bos and Sherri for the exceptional care they have given to Bullet & Chase during a scary time in their lives. They are always fantastic with all the fosters that have passed through their clinic, and last but not least, my own dogs and cats as well. They are very receptive to an owners emotions regarding their pets, and even let me participate with my dogs and foster dogs care all the time. I love this as it gives me piece of mind of what is being done and that my pets and fosters are treated well.

Stay tuned for more updates and pictures of these 2 beautiful dogs.

Meet Sadie - It seems our area is a dumping ground for unwanted dogs. So sad really as every dog we have taken in have been such sweet, amazing dogs. It is hard to believe they could be discarded without a second thought.

Our newest little foster we have named Sadie. She is approximately 9 months old and a beautiful lab mix. She will be a big girl when she is fully grown ... she is already big at only 9 months of age.

Sadie gets along great with our dogs. Lady is happy to have another playmate and the two girls are constantly keeping us amused with their acrobatics. Sadie is keeping our Lady young.

Sadie will be completely vetted before she is placed up for adoption. But, in the meantime we are enjoying our time with this energetic little girl.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Ollie the Amazing - ANML-RESQ is pleased to announce that our darling boy Ollie is ready to be adopted. He is such an amazing little guy and we have no doubt he will find his forever family in very short order.
Here is what the foster said:

My Foster Momma said that I should tell you all a little about myself.......I'm 3 and very cute, or so I'm told and I'm a Shih Tzu/Pug. I asked Momma what Ollie stood for, and she said Oliver.....I think it stands for Ollie-Fantastic. Momma says I'm only staying with them for a little while.....she said I'm such a Great Boy that there is a FurEver Family out there Perfect for me.....she said her work is not done with Fosters, and that other babies need help. I really Love it here, but I understand.....I can't wait to meet my FurEver Family. I really Love Poppa and Sissy too!!!!!!! So, a few things about me........I Love People.....LOVE LOVE LOVE.....meeting new people is great, and I get to do that a lot here, my Foster Family take me everywhere and I've been a very good boy. I don't bark at the people when we meet, and if my Momma talks for a long time, she's a talker, I just lay down and wait for her to be done. I've met so many people in the neighborhood, and so many other puppies too. I really Love meeting other doggies. Momma says I'm a Magician, I'm not really sure what that means, but she can't figure out where I find all the treats.....don't tell Momma, but I hide them, and like to have them as midnight snacks....on the bed. Momma says that I don't understand what a closed door means.....I know it means, push open and come on in, but she doesn't agree.....but I have to tell you.....you never know what is on the other side of the door, and I've seen things...Oh....and I'm also supposed to mention that Garbage Bags aren't safe........I just think that I'm doing my best to help out the cat population by opening the bags so they can see what is on the buffet for the evening. The coolest thing happened the other day.....I already knew how to bark.....I'm not really a barker, just when new peeps come to the door, but Momma, she showed me how to Howl.....it is so freaking fantastic.....Momma has to start howling first, then I join in. OH OH OH....Car Rides, I LOVE LOVE Car Rides.....OK, where was I........howling, so ya I like to howl with Momma. Momma says I'm doing really good at eating my kibble, but what I really love is treats......I'm a treats fiend!!!!!!!!

But kibble, I share Kibble......My big brother Douggie and I eat out of the same bowl, and drink from the same bowl too......I'm not sure why.....there are two bowls of each, but we like to share, and when one bowl is done, we go to the other. I really don't think anything scares me...and I know I'm not shy. I'm always ready for any adventure you have in mind, and if the plan is to stay home and relax....I'm really good at that too. I also really love to be right up against you when we're sleeping....and when you go out and come back home....I have a Welcome Home Party just for You. Lots of Hugs and Kisses and Cuddles....and I want to hear all about your day. I'm looking for Someone Really Special to be my FurEver Human......because Momma says I deserve the Best. Is that You?

Many thanks to Monique, Walter ,Valerie and Douggie for welcoming this little munchkin into their home.

Meet Chloe - Our newest rescue came to us much in the same was as her "look-a-like" Cassie. Both dogs were found straying although Chloe does not seem as ferrel as Cassie was, it did take some time capturing her.

blog090215b.jpg (68610 bytes)

Local campers noticed Chloe hanging around the camp ground one evening. Although, she was too afraid to come near, they decided to leave her food and water and see if she stayed around. After almost 2 weeks of being fed and following the children around the campsite as they played and taking treats from the parents, one of her rescuers was able to scratch her under her chin at which point she leaned in to the scratching and rolled over for belly rubs. They took the opportunity to loop the leash around her neck and finally, she was safe! Foster mom has this to report about Chloe:

After some Great People Transported Chloe from Ottawa to Cornwall ... we took Chloe home with us to meet our Boys ... Douggie and our other little Foster Ollie. She fit in quite well very quickly. Douggie is the Alpha and knows he is "The Boss" and he started teaching her the rules of the house right away. She shares food and water ... but does Not Share Treats.

blog090215c.jpg (60724 bytes)

She originally did not walk well at all on the leash ... but she got a new Martingale Collar today ... and she is Walking on Leash 100% Better... what a difference. She does have a knee/leg injury, and we have a vet appt to begin taking care of her injury.

blog090215a.jpg (78583 bytes)

She is Very Loving and Loves to Learn ... and we are working on her Manners. During the night ... every hour or so ... she gives a little whine until I tell her she's ok and that she can go back to sleep ... and she does. I don't think the poor baby ever wants to be alone again.

Thank you again to ALL the people involved in capturing this sweet girl. She has a vet appointment on Tuesday and we will find out the extent of her leg injury. Please send positive thoughts Chloe's way and we will keep you updated on her progress.

Many thanks to Monique, Walter, Valerie and Master Douggie for welcoming this sweet girl into their hearts and home. Foster brother Ollie is tickled pink to have another rescue to hang around with.
